With the UK release of these Apple products coming very soon a number of iPad stands have already hit the market with varying degrees of cost. Unlike the typical laptop stand, these units seem to be more designed with styling in mind and are more expensive than the cheaper laptop entry models. We expected the price to decrease over time – indeed a rather inventive worker at the New York times created his own iPad stand for $0.69! He did this by purchasing a business card holder from a stationary shop that seems to do the job perfectly well.
A couple of photos of iPad stands on the market:
The Joule stand above is one of the sleeker stands available and when released here will be in the above £60 range. And the very cheap improvised version from the stationary store (using a business card holder can be seen below:
As soon as any stands become released (I can only find one right now) I will be sure to add them to the main site, so keep checking back on a regular basis!
The Speaker Lapdesk N700 from Logitech is a rather cool looking bit of kit, in fact not only does it support your computer but it houses it’s own internal speakers and even a fan! Launced at the CES show in January it’s an impressive piece of kit and currently availble for a reasonable £69.99. The unit also allows you to postion yourself in any postion (you can tilt it) you feel comfortable in and will fit all makes of laptop up to sixteen inches.
Perfect for those who watch movies or music frequently, the stereo speakers are impressive and much better than internal outputs. No software is required to run it either which is an added bonus. This also makes a perfect Macbook stand if you so wish.
Great to see that a UK based company have decided to enter the laptop stand arena. Pendle Products have just released a new, laser cut design that enables a laptop user to higher the unit whilst working with a full size monitor and keyboard and is meant to improve work flow. Rubber footing means that the table or desk unit is protected, whilst rather clever holes have been punched into the sides to enable cables to be placed through and create a clutter-free environment.
Available via their phone number on their site and priced at £42 and £48, for 15 inch laptops and also larger units in black and white. Perfect for use a Macbook stand the units have been given excellent reviews so far. I’d love to get my hands on one as I’m about to buy an external monitor to work on my Macbook pro.
